God rays effect

Cast rays of light from the top of the screen. This won't work well if shown on top of the background color of the scene. Be sure to use an object acting as a background or a floor.

Key properties

  • Angle tilts the direction the rays point to, and Light widens or narrows their spread.
  • Gain and Lacunarity change the brightness and the detail (contrast) of the rays.
  • Center X and Center Y move the point the rays come from. When Parallel is enabled the rays are cast in a single direction (like a distant sun); disable it to make them radiate outwards from that center point (like a nearby light source).
  • Animation Speed controls how fast the rays shimmer over time (0 pauses the animation).

Note

This effect only works on 2D layers and objects.
